[KIT] How to overcome depression

Depression is very common to people of all ages nowadays. There are many factors around a human that contributes to their depression. Although it is very common, it is not a good thing though and people should overcome their depression in order to move forward. This article will describe how to do that.

Before we get into anything, let’s understand what is the symptom of depression so you guys will have a better understanding on how to overcome it. Symptoms of depression include irritation over little things, depressed and irritated mood, sleep problem, lose interest of whatever u enjoy doing, appetite problem, worse concentration, agitation, anxiety and thoughts of self-harm or suicide. If you have at least one of the following symptoms then please be aware of the possibility that you are being depressed right now.

There are many activities out there to do in order to slowly overcome depression and let’s see which activity is fit for your current situation.

  1. Find your inner peace

What is inner peace ? Inner peace or peace of mind is referring to a deliberate state of psychological calm despite the potential presence of stressors. There are many ways to find inner peace. Firstly, you can spend some quality time with people who are close to you, for example family. Join dinner with your family and silently listen to what everyone is talking about, see their smiles and laugh of joy, you will feel calmer that way. At least, that worked for me. If you are unable to use that solution then try finding a peaceful place where there’s no loud noises and just sit there enjoying the view. Such places include the park, the sea, an island, in a forest or even a library.

2. Be of service to people around you

This is based on my past experiences, whenever I feel down or depressed, I usually walk around the street and just enjoy the vibes. On my way, whenever I see people who look like they need help, I usually give them a hand such as lifting objects, rolling a cart, carrying packages and even helping children or elders cross the street. I don’t really understand why but it does ease my tension greatly and improve my mood. I suggest doing that whenever you are depressed.

3. Lost yourself in something that you enjoy

Do you enjoy playing online video games ? Then do it. Not video games but coding instead ? Then do it. Just lose yourself doing something you like and you will forget all the things that make you depressed or down for a period of time. It doesn’t solve your problem but it does help clearing unnecessary thoughts for a while. You might even be able to find the solution after calming down.

These are my tips for overcoming depression. All of them are based on my past experiences and all of them worked very well for me. I suggest at least trying one out of three methods that I mentioned to help overcoming your depression!
