[KIT] Top 5 places to visit in Cambodia

Cambodia is also known as Kampuchea, officially the Kingdom of Cambodia. Cambodia divides into two seasons are a dry season and a wet season. The dry season runs from October to April, and the wet season from May until September, with the heaviest rainfall generally in August and September. Average temperatures range from 24°C in the cooler months of October, November, and December to 35°C at the hottest time of the year from March until June. Tourist is the main sector in Cambodia. The number of tourists in Cambodia is increasing rapidly every year. There are many places to visit but I’m gonna introduce the top 5 places that you shouldn’t miss when you come to visit Cambodia.

1. Angkor Wat or Angkor Touch

Angkor Wat is the most popular tourist destination which is located in Siem Reap province. Build between AD 802 and 1432. Angkor Wat surrounded by water and forest. The temple of Angkor Wat itself, the world’s largest religious building, is only one sliver of the site in total, and the sprawling circuit of temples deserves three days to explore if you want to understand the scope of the Angkorian period’s architectural achievements.

2. Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia. There are many places that you should visit such as the Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, Central Market, National Museum of Cambodia, etc. National Museum was built in 1920. There are more than 1,800 objects display. Toul Sleng Museum is the place where more than 17,000 people passed through these gates between 1975 and 1978, accused of betraying the revolution in some way. 

3. Sihanoukville Beaches

Sihanoukville is also known as Kampong Som. There are four main beaches in Sihanoukville such as Serendipity, Independence, Occheuteal, and Otres. The beaches here Cambodia’s top destination for sand and sun holidays and are popular with both local and foreign tourists. There’s something for every kind of beach-goer here. Sokha Beach and Independence Beach boast luxury hotels. Brash Ochheuteal Beach and the Serendipity Beach area are the most popular sandy strips and in recent years have emerged as one of Southeast Asia’s backpacker party areas.

4. Ratanakiri

Ratanakiri is located in Cambodia’s far northeast bordered by Laos to the north, Vietnam to the east, Mondulkiri to the south, and Stung Treng to the west. Ratanakiri is a nature-filled reprieve for travelers suffering from temple-fatigue. There are many attractive places like Yeak Laom Volcanic Lake, Airavata Elephant Foundation, Ka Chanh Waterfall, Virachey National Park, Cha Ong Waterfall, etc. Yeak Laom Volcano Lake: This beautiful place is not far from town and is great for a swim, picnic, or hike around the crater rim of the old volcano.

5. Prasat Preah Vihear 

Prasat Preah Vihear temple is an ancient Hindu temple that was built over a period of 300 years by various kings and located in Preah Vihear province. The temples of Angkor Wat may gain all the glory, but Prasat Preah Vihear wins the prize for the most dramatic location. The Preah Vihear temple is a masterpiece of Khmer’s creative genius, unique testimony to the cultural tradition of civilization and the most outstanding architectural feat of an ancient technological ensemble, with a landscape illustrating a significant stage in human history.
