How to be self-aware

If you’re reading this article then you’re already being aware of yourself but you’re not sure if you’re really aware of yourself right? That’s why you search up for this article so that you can understand yourself better than anyone else. So to be self aware what do we really need? Well to be honest, nothing really. All you need is just some thought and a quiet environment which can be your room. I really recommend being shut in inside your room because it’s indeed really quite and it really can help sooth your mind and let yourself be self-aware with your thought. Okay so if you already have everything above then you’re set to be self-aware however how do we actually do it? Like what’s the process or the method to start being aware of your own self? Well here’s a little bit of back story of me in high school and how I become really aware of myself and my surrounding.

It all started when I was at the end of my 11th grade. I just had a breakup with my girlfriend at that time and I remember it was so hurtful for me until the point that I decide to cut every social media platform and disappear for a while during summer. And boy I did not regret that decision of having a breakup at all because that was what lead me into reading and coping with the pain I had. First, I got to try reading some entry philosophy book because I was so lost inside my mind that I actually need some guidance. So I decided to pick up a book called “Enlightenment Philosophy in a Nutshell”. That book introduced me to philosopher like Rene Descartes, Socrates, Marcus Aurelius and Eratosthenes. These philosophers helped guide me through a dark time and let me become a little bit self-aware during that time as I spend more of my time talking to myself and let me surf around alone with my thought. I felt what was like peace at that time because it was a feeling that I never felt before. A sense of peace and quietness and a book for yourself to be lost in. Well at least that’s what gotten me into being self-aware and as the time goes on I started to practice some of the principle that I have learnt from the book that I read and apply it into my social life. I started to be aware of my friends, my actions, my surrounding and especially my thought. I was able to control myself and told myself what to do especially learning from mistake. I trained my mind to be sharp and be aware of everything and as I turned 19 I can actually feel a sense of being mature because I tend to understand what is going on around me. The feeling of being self-aware is something else because you always know what you’re doing and instead of being lost you actually know what to do with your life and that is already a key to live a great life.

So what I’m trying to say is that I want everyone in this world to try to get into philosophy and don’t be afraid that it’s going to be too complex to understand. Just start by reading the entry book and then make your way into the complex one because trust me, philosophy does make you a truly different person and once you’re aware of yourself you’ll realize your true potential and you’ll live a life that you won’t regret! So grab a philosophy book and start reading it now!
