How to buy coffee beans

When buying coffee beans selling by weight
Please buy only the amount that will be used up in a week or two.
For flour, use 1 week, and for beans, use 2 weeks.

When buying coffee beans in a bag
Select the one with the best-by date specified
Coffee beans hate air (oxygen). When roasted coffee beans come into contact with the air, the ingredients cause chemical reactions such as oxidation, which causes quality deterioration such as taste and aroma.

When buying canned or bagged coffee powder
The place of origin, content, how to grind, suitable equipment, etc. are always displayed, so choose according to your taste.

How to store coffee beans

When transferring the plastic container
Be sure to put beans or flour in a plastic container that can be sealed.

For containers that can be stored
If it is packed in a bag and has a clasp on the mouth, secure it.
Let’s seal it tightly. Coffee hates heat and humidity. Please store in a well-ventilated place out of the sun.
In summer, put it in a sealed container and store it in the refrigerator. However, please note that if you keep it in the refrigerator for a long time, there is a risk of condensation when using it.

Basic rules of making cup of coffee

Depending on the equipment used, it can be divided into three stages:

  • “fine grinding”is used for siphon,
  • “normal grinding”is used for drip,
  • “rough grinding”.is used for percolator.

Immediately before using the equipment, wash it again with hot water and warm it before using it. In addition, warm the cup with hot water in advance.

Consider the size of the equipment you use and the number of people, and try to add only the amount you drink right now. Even if you make good coffee, if you boil it again, the aroma will be lost and the taste will change. Please avoid making up.

The standard amount of powder is 10g for a drip type and 12g for a siphon. 120cc is standard for the finished amount.

Paper drip type

This is the making method used by most people in Japan.
It has been devised so that you can make coffee in a stable manner. When you pour hot water in the center, it spreads in all directions, and the hot water spreads evenly over the coffee powder in the dripper. In addition, the diameter of the bottom is narrowed to facilitate “steaming” and “extraction of 1 cup”, which are important for drip, and it is possible to extract 1 to 4 cups with one size. It is one of the recommended equipment for those who make coffee for the first time
