Covid-19 is a disease that spreads from one person to another so easily and starts to spread all around the world in early 2019 and become a serious pandemic lead to lockdown the country. After the pandemic people are afraid to travel to other countries aside their residents because we don’t have the vaccine yet and the cause of this incident all countries face the decrease of outbound travelers and lead to bankruptcy for some companies in the tourism industry such as, airline, hotel and restaurant.
How Covid-19 ruined the economy of a country?
Covid-19 is a serious disease that everyone is afraid of especially when it comes to travel so Cambodia government is very concerned about this incident because Cambodia’s economy is also dependent on the tourism industry. Some destinations that are affected by Covid-19 have decreased the number of tourists and keep on losing the tourists day by day. Cambodian people after Covid-19 hit their income are also decreasing because people are not going out and just stay at home. There are some strategies that Cambodia government uses to address these issues to protect the people in the countries and as well as tourists that come to visit Cambodia. First, restricted the arrival of tourists that come to Cambodia by putting them in quarantine for 14 days to prevent the Covid-19 infection to other people. How? Before the quarantine for 14 days there is also a restriction from the government that when the tourists are at the airport they need to wear a mask and keep distance from other people at least 1-1.5 meters. Second, lockdown the country even close the school and other places to avoid the increase of Covid-19 infection.
Third, recently Cambodia has the amount that Cambodian can get the Covid-19 vaccine for free from China and France so this would be a good opportunity for Cambodia to restart the tourism industry again.
How can Cambodia attract the tourists back?
Cambodia can attract tourists back by spreading the awareness Covid-19 situation into the world that we are safe to visit because it is very important to make tourists aware of the Covid-19 situation. Cambodia government should spread this information through social media in many ways that can reach people around the world. Second, discovering new destinations during the pandemic to replace those destinations that are affected by the Covid-19 cases means to attract the tourists using new destinations that they have discovered. Third, cooperate with all the stakeholders in the tourism sector to be involved together to make sure that they are prepared for Covid-19 prevention for the customers who come to their place.
In conclusion, Covid-19 has ruined every sector or department, not just the tourism sector and people suffering from it for almost 2 years already. STAY HOME and SAFE
